Hey! This is my final report, I already left Bremen since a few weeks when I’m writing this report. I’m preparing myself to come back to the “real life” and to my studies. Yes, “the real life” with all the problems, a short budget, a new life to rebuild, a new city to discover, and the problems linked to all of this: a dream eh !? What I mean by this is that this last year was for me as an interlude, like a long pause in my life. I wanted it to be like it, I choose to go abroad to change completely the student life I was living before. I’m so glad to have taken this opportunity, and I don’t and will never regret this slightly crazy decision. This volunteering is a big step in my life, and I’ll never forget the people I met, the places I visited, the knowledge I learned and the whole experience. But all the good things have an end, as I like to say. I finished my project already two months ago because I was working in a school and the children went in holidays at the middle of July, so after, I was in holidays!
Some friends and I decided to do an Interrail. Oh my god, this was also a magical experience that I always wanted to do in my life. Thanks to economies I kept during this year, I could visit with 3 other friends 6 different countries: Czech Republic (Prague), Austria (Vienna and the Austrian Alps), Croatia (Zagreb and Split), Slovenia (Ljubljana, Bled, and some lacks), Italy (Trieste and Venice) and Germany (Munich, Stuttgart, Erfurt, Bamberg, and Quedlinburg). This travel was like the icing on the cake to all this year. I could really make to practice my knowledge in English and even in German. Before doing this volunteering, I could never imagine travelling, sometimes alone, in all these countries and be able to speak with native people, but I did it I’m very proud of it!
I spent this year surrounded by so many friendly people who had the same values and open mindset. Of course, we had differences, but we could share our different opinions always respectfully and then grow-up psychologically. I changed during this year, thanks to my friends, my co-workers and the children I was working with. It wasn’t easy every day but if I must retain the moment I want to remember, I wouldn’t choose only the best moments because it’s in the difficulties that I learned the most. At home, we built like a cocoon, we were like a family, and I called this apartment not only the “house” but my home because I knew that the people, I was living with were all lovely and I could count on them. I already lived in a shared house before, but it wasn’t at all like that. It’s why I want to thank all the person I lived with for your kindness and just to be you, all the lovely volunteers in Bremen, my co-workers and the coordinator organization.
A page is turning down, but not the book…
